    1. Highfields
    2. Hello Debbie It's not even a hamlet it is just a farm. There are in fact two, one on the road between Eynesbury and Waresley/Gamlingay, about where the golf course is now and the other which is more likely, being right in the middle of the area you are talking about. It is off to the south of the road from Buckden to Perry, just east of the turn to Gaynes Hall at the south end of the reservoir, and is connected to midloe by bridle paths & lanes. It is on the 1" map. Most people I have investigated from Southoe/Midloe seem to have gone to Eaton Socon Church but Hail Weston, Staughton,Little Paxton, Grafham, and Buckden are all possibilities Jim

    1. Where is High Field or Highfields?
    2. In the 1851 census Sarah PIGG nee WOLFENDEN is living in Barkway, Hertfordshire, but claims she was born in High Field, Huntingdonshire. Sarah was the daughter of John WOLFENDEN and Ann UNDERWOOD who married in 1812 in Boxworth, Cambridgeshire. At the time of the marriage John was "of Midloe, Hunts". Sarah was baptised in Grafham in 1817. Her brother Thomas Page WOLFENDEN was baptised in 1814 in Southoe but his father was said to be a farmer from "Highfields". Can anyone tell me where High Field or Highfields might be? There is no parish of this name in Hunts so I presume it's the name of a small hamlet. I've been searching for three years without success trying to find a record of the baptism of Thomas and Sarah's father John WOLFENDEN who was born between 1780 and 1788 and was wondering if this might be a clue to help me find the baptism. 3. Good Evening I am reasearching the names LEA and WALKER My grandparents GEORGE LEA and ELIZABETH ne Walker lived in around the village of Chatteris. They died in 1931 on the 15 and 16 May and they are buried in Somersham Church yard There funeral was coverd by the local paper. I have been lucky in the fact I have traced the LEA'S back to 1746 in Wiltshire but it is ELIZABETH LEA ne WALKER family that I can not trace further back than the 1820. Her father WILLIAM WALKER married in 1845 at Upwell to SARAH MARKLEY. He gave his fathers name as JAMES and all I have found on him which was a few years back is he married twice His first wife was ANN WALKER. banns read on the 16th /07/1822 ( Piddly cum Fenton Marriage Register 1754-1837) Ann died in childbirth a year later 6/08/1823 and her son Jospeh died age 3w on the 13/08/1823 ( also from the parish register and the NBI). In 1826 JAMES WALKER widower married ELIZABETH BROWN Sp on the 29/03/1826. I have been unable to get back any further than this and also I have been unable to trace WILLIAM WALKER birth, which from my working out of his age on his wedding (19) should be about 1827. I have been unable even to trace him before or just after his parents marriage. As I hope to be able at some time to travel back to Huntingdon to do further researh some suggestion as to how to procced would be welcome. "Steve"

I got this from the IGI after a verifying (through the kind help of another researcher who visited the Huntingdon RO for me) the siblings in the parish register at the Huntingdon RO. Richard popped up on the IGI with the same siblings. Let me know if you have any connections.
