Hi Yvonne, You're welcome, and glad they've helped you. After I get to 1970 offline, I'll hopefully be able to help you some more, if you have a requested lookup at that time. I'll be continuing on with the Overseers accounts for 1800, and when I've finished with that, we'll see where I go from there. The LDS did a fantastic amount of filming at Eaton Socon. I just wish we had the same for St Neots and Eynesbury, just across the pretty river Great Ouse. There are records for those places too, but tragically they've never been filmed. Transcriptions are nice, which the Huntingdon FHS is slowly working on, but I'm very concerned that those original books are slowly disintegrating over time, which is inevitable, even with the best of care. David you are a treasure! Certainly shed some light on those hedgerows for me! Many thanks. Sonja
May I beg a look up please? I am interested in any CARTER surnames in Woodhurst, Huntingdonshire. There are only 2 families and a prisoner (:O) on the 1851 that were born and living there. One is my John and his wife Mary. I believe the other William aged 60 is Johns father. I am trying to pull some more family out of the hedgerows! Woodhurst being the tiny place it is, I am hoping to find a parent or two and hope to connect the William in prison to him as a brother. Knowing my luck he will have got 10 years in 1841!! Many thanks in advance. Sonja In a rainy Queensland Yahooooooo!
Hi Peter and list, You're certainly welcome. After 1910, I'm going to continue, but will stop publishing to our list just in case there's anyone concerned with privacy issues. Then, after I've brought them up to the end, which is around 1970, I'll announce to the list, and offer lookups for anyone who wants them. But please, not till then, as with my memory, I'll never remember any requests for that long. :) Jim Bundy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Freshwater" <peter@hillfoot.demon.co.uk> To: <BEDFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 06, 2005 12:12 PM Subject: Re: [BDF] Eaton Socon Baptisms 1813 - , note 100 > Congratulations, Jim - your 100th note from the post-1812 baptisms > of Eaton > Socon. Is anyone researching this family? Mary BAGBY born BRINGTON, HUNTINGDONSHIRE 1784, her parents were Thomas BAGBY and Mary CROWSON. I would to hear from you. Elaine
Hello Listers, It was suggested to me to subscribe to your list as perhaps sks might be able to help me. I am researching the name BRAWN. So far I have found the Brawns to be in Bedfordshire. On the 1861 Census it gives Thomas Brawn ( I cannot read the age but I think it says that he is 23 years old, Married, Carpenter and born in Hunts Kimbolton Eliza , wife age 37 and she was born in Bedford. Mary Ann daughter age 5 Thomas age 4 William ( my line ) age 2 Louisa age 1 I would like to find Thomas' father and mother and think perhaps he could be on the 1851 Census and about age 13. Would anyone have access to the 1851 Census and able to find any information on Thomas. Thank you in advance for any possible help you can give me. Kindest Regards, Lynne in Victoria,BC, Canada

Hi Elaine The entry for the marriage in the Hunts Marriage Index doesn’t indicate that either were anything other than of the parish of Brington. But fortunately Brington is one of the few Hunts parishes which has been extracted onto the IGI, and there are no Bagbys or Jeffs at all so I don’t think either of them were natives of Brington. I checked the NBI and both appear to have been buried in Islip: 11 March 1849 William Jeffs age 67 7 Feb 1875 Mary Jeffs age 88 In the 1861 census RG9/959 folio 75 Islip Mary Jeffs widow 74 born Cranford, Northants In household of Amos Mayes 37 and Hannah Mayes 38 both born Islip.(Might Hannah have been a daughter?) In 1871 Mary was living alone in Islip Northamptonshire Mary Jeffs head widow 84 b Cranford So Mary Bagby seems to have been born around 1786/7 in Cranford Northants, which is about 4 miles west of Islip, whereas Brington is 8 miles east of Islip. Unfortunately this doesn’t help with William’s birthplace. You could try asking for a lookup for them in Islip in 1841, but that will only tell you if he was born in Northants or not, not the birthplace. Islip has not been extracted onto the IGI, so that would be my first place to check. The parish register is available on microfilm from any Family History Centre of the LDS – do you have one anywhere near you in NZ? There’s a list on their website www.familysearch.org, which is down at the moment so I can’t see if there are any at all! Hope this helps Regards David > Message du 21/10/05 05:25 > De : "ELAINE NAIRN" <EANAIRN@XTRA.CO.NZ> > A : ENG-HUNTINGDON-L@rootsweb.com > Copie à : > Objet : JEFFS / BAGBY > > Hi all, > I am new to this list today and i was wondering if any one can help me with my JEFFS family.
