Hi Richard Lucks out so far as 1851 goes Im afraid. He, or who I assume to be him, wasnt with his parents. 1851 HO107/1748 folio 716B Abbotts Ripton Hunts John Stocker lodger 15 brickmaker born St Neots Hunts In household of William and Ann Walker, 57 and 56 farm lab. In 1871 in Darlington he again gives St Neots as his birthplace, age 35. So hes consistent. For that reason I dont really fancy the Eaton Socon Beds John Stocker. I cant see him in 1861 so he was possibly abroad with the army. 1841 HO107/454-03 folio 5A High St, St Neots Edward Stocker 40 Ag lab Ann Stocker 40 James Stocker 15 John Stocker 14 Edward Stocker 8 Ann Stocker 6 Rachel Stocker 4 William Stocker 12 Previous house included Sarah Stocker 14 Female servant All born in county (ie Hunts) In 1851 the same family HO107/1750 folio 226 Huntingdon St, Blue Ball Yard, St Neots Edward Stocker head married 53 labourer b Eynesbury Hunts Ann Stocker wife 55 b Gt (or possibly Lt) Paxton, Hunts Edward Stocker son unmarr 19 butcher b St Neots Hunts Ann Stocker dau 16 Lace maker b St Neots Rachel Stocker dau 14 Lace maker b St Neots Mary Stocker dau 8 scholar b St Neots James Prentice lodger unmarr 19 labourer b Sharnbrook Beds I cant see any other John Stockers born St Neots of the right age in any other census, so this looks to be the right one. Unfortunately St Neots parish registers have not been filmed by the LDS (or rather they were refused permission to film them) and they have not yet been transcribed for release on microfiche, so the only way to check for baptisms is at Huntingdon Record Office if you cant get there they run an efficient research service at very reasonable cost. On the assumption that this is your family, Hunts Marriage Index does not have a marriage of an Edward Stocker, but there is a marriage on the IGI on 26 Dec 1820 between Edward Stocker and Ann Parish, which looks promising. The NBI has a burial of an Ann Stocker age 63 at St Neots on 25 Mar 1859, but I cant see Edwards burial (he was still alive in 1861 and 1871 where he gives his birthplace as Hail Weston, Hunts) Hope this helps Regards David Richard Telford-Bailie <richard.telford-bailie@virgin.net> a écrit : Hello List New to the list and to this part of the country. On the 1881 census I have John Stocker in Darlington, states he was born 1836 St Neots. Huntingdonshire.Painters Lab/Retired Pensioner, later census described as Army Pensioner so I believe he would have been in the Army sometime during the 1850s. I have looked at old files on Rootsweb and came across a census (1841) that had been posted on this list, in mentions a John Stocker born 1836 at Eaton Socom, parents were Francis and Sarah Stocker both 50 yrs. Is there anyone that can confirm whether he was the only John Stocker in the area, I have no idea how popular the surname is or was. I believe he moved north around 1861 to 1871. Thank you. Hi Richard, I have been transcribing all the baptisms for Eaton Socon starting in 1813, which are all in our list archives. I did scan my complete copy, and although there are many Stockers in there, none of yours. I'll bet they had all their children baptised at St Neots, which makes it difficult, as NONE of the St Neots baptisms have ever been filmed. You could go to Huntingdon at the Record Office, or hire someone to look there for you. That's about your only choices, sad to say. I was there in June, and spent a day scribbling out baptisms, but didn't get very far of course. [28939] Ms Harman: The Ministry of Defence, together with the National Archives, held discussions with the Imperial War Museum (IWM), the National Army Museum, the Fleet Air Arm Museum, the Women's Library and Lancashire Military Museums concerning the First World War Army Medal Index Cards. The considerable publicity given to this subject last spring provided an opportunity for other organisations to express an interest in acquiring the cards. This publicity prompted the Western Front Association to contact the National Archives.
Hello, My gggrandfather George Jonathan Watts (born 1819 in Chesterton, Hunts) married Jane HEAD(born 1821 in Alwalton Hunts) in 1846 in Chesterton. We think they had 8 children John Joseph (b1847), Elizabeth (b1849), Georgina (b1851), Sarah (b1853), Jane (b1855), Joseph (b1858), Martha & Mary (b1861). The first 5 were born in Alwalton Hunts, Joseph in Fletton, Hunts and the twins in Little Stoney, Cheshire. In 1851 they were living in Read House, Drydens(?) Rd(ref HO.107/1747). We are looking for information on George Jonathan's possible brothers (maybe 6 - William, James John, Charles, Joseph, Cecil Henry and John - although this is not confirmed.) and any ancestors and/or descendants. Would like to correspond with anybody else looking for WATTS from Hunts (or Shoreditch area of London from latter part of 19th century) Regards Yvonne MUNFORD (born WATTS)

Hi Lynne The family was still in Bedford in 1851, unfortunately mistranscribed , somewhat understandably, as Hood. HO107/1752 folio 106 St Loyes, Bedford St Paul Mary A Flood head widow 50 currier born Bedford Eliza Flood dau unmarr 27 b Bedford Louisa Flood dau unmarr 24 b Bedford Charles Flood son unmarr 23 currier b Bedford James Flood son unmarr 21 currier b Bedford Maria Flood dau unmarr 19 b Bedford John Flood son unmarr 17 currier b Bedford William Flood son 10 b Bedford There is a burial on the NBI of a George Henry Flood age 50 at Bedford St Paul on 3 Aug 1849. The family may have been non-conformist at one stage as Louisa appears to have been baptised at the Howard Chapel in Mill St, Bedford on 12 Nov 1826, born 15 May 1826, parents George and Mary Flood (IGI), although Charles was baptised at Bedford St Paul on 21 Oct 1827. Do you have details of them in the 1861 census? John appears to be married and living in Bedford; Mary Ann and William are still in Bedford; and it was Charles who had moved to Kimbolton. Let me know if you need full details. Likewise for 1841 (if I can find them in Bedford!)
