Hello listers I am new to this list and hope someone might be able to help me. From Census data it seems that my ggg grandfather, William GILL was born in St Neots, Huntingdonshire around 1801 and in 1841 he was living with his family in Basford, Nottingham, working as a lace-maker. He married his wife, Mary (possibly BEDFORD), in St Mary's, Nottingham around 1820. Please can anyone help me to find William's family in St Neots before/after his move to Nottingham, I presume to find work. Thank you for any help you can give, Regards, Aileen (in Notts)
I am also interested in REYNOLDS esp. Thomas- of whom there are at least 2 -from St Ives & one is my gtgrandfather who I need to sort out . Hello Ann, Thanks for the info - copied in for benefit of list members. I have trawled through my inbox. We are interested in Watts from Hunts area especially Elizabeth Watts who married John Abbess at Fenstanton Parish Church, Huntingdonshire on 3rd. March, 1800.Until recently, our records showed Elizabeth's parents as being Thomas Watts and Mary (nee Farrington (sic)) and showed that they were probably married around 1771. However, no information was available as to where their marriage might have taken place. Might there be any link? Ann Ann - At the moment I cannot establish any link, but will keep looking. Hi Richie The only marriage on the Hunts Marriage Index of an Eastwell to a Mary was in 1776 in Waresley where Libnah Eastwell married Mary Brunt widow. There is a burial in Gt Gransden on 10 March 1776 of Mary Eastwell, although whether this is the same Mary needs checking. (Waresley and Gt Gransden are adjacent parishes). There is another Waresley marriage in 1784 of Lebbens Eastwell widower and Martha Milton widow, and a burial on 9 Dec 1816 of Lebbeus Eastwell age 68 in Waresley. How sure are you that Thomass mother was Mary, rather than Martha? It appears as though Thomas birthplace was Waresley, Hunts in 1789/90, per the 1851 census, although he married in Gt Gransden, Hunts. Great Gransden baptisms/marriages 1683-1876 are on the BVRI, but unfortunately not Waresley. BVRI has the following Eastwell baptisms in Gt Gransden 27 Aug 1811 Martha dau of William & Rebecca (this looks to be an error as all the following parents are Thomas & Rebecca) (possibly this was the Martha who was buried on 9 ?? 1811 at Gt Gransden). Naming the child Martha might be a pointer to Martha being Thomass mothers name. 8 Dec 1814 Frances dau of Thomas & Rebecca 30 Jun 1816 John son of Thomas & Rebecca 29 Nov 1818 Robert son of Thomas & Rebecca (buried 27 Feb 1821 age 2+) 19 Nov 1820 James son of Thomas & Rebecca 9 Nov 1823 Joseph son of Thomas & Rebecca IGI also has christenings in Little Gransden, Cambs: 26 Nov 1827 Elizabeth dau of Thomas & Rebecca 11 Oct 1829 Betsey dau of Thomas & Rebecca Curiously your William b c1813 doesnt appear. Do you have details of the Eastwells from the 1841/51 censuses? If not I have them. If you think that Lebbeus is the father of Thomas I can probably get more details about him. Hope this helps Regards David richie wright <richardwrightadsl@dodo.com.au> a écrit : can sks help with any links i have a mary eastwell b abt 1776 m to ?? eastwell their son thomas m rebecca cook on 16/4/1811 their son william b abt 1813 m mary townsend on24/12/1837 looking for any dates re bdm for this family regards richie in bowen --------------------------------- Nouveau : téléphonez moins cher avec Yahoo! Hi Listers It's that time again where I remind everyone about the Huntingdonshire Look-up Exchange. For anyone who doesn't know what it's all about, it is an ever-growing list of volunteers who have resources in their possession and who are willing to do "look-ups". Why not take a look? Please take time to read the instructions if this is your first visit - You will find the Hunts Lookup page at: http://members.tripod.com/AztecRose/huntingdon/hun.html I'm always on the look-out for more volunteers to undertake look-ups for fellow researchers in any area such as; tax lists, electoral rolls, directories, census indexes, indexed parish registers etc., etc., and if you are willing to add your name to this list, then please email me, at gagudju@ozemail.com.au your contribution will be gratefully accepted. I would like to thank all volunteers who are listed for their continued support. Hi I wonder if anyone has the 1841 census covering Peterborough . I am looking for the family of William King and wife Judith (nee Payne) in Westgate Peterborough. I have then in 1851 with several children Mary Ann 11, William 9, Harriett 7, and John Thomas 1. All children shown as born Peterborough so suspect they were living there in 1841 I am wanting to know if there are any other children mentioned in 1841. In 1851 William was shown as a mason's labourer. Mike

Hello, This seems to be a yearly posting from me. I still am no further in my pursuit of my ggggrandfather. "I am desperately seeking information on John GOODWIN who married Sarah BULL on 09 June 1817 in Little Paxton. He is my great great great grandfather and as he died before the 1841 census I know precious little about him. I do know that he was a cordwainer, and from the birth dates of his children [all apparently born in Great Paxton] he died sometime between 1826 and the 1841 census. I have no idea of where he was born, but I suspect somewhere in Huntingdonshire. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks." Can anyone who has a John GOODWIN in their line, born about 1795ish, please check for me. I'm really at my wits end. A kind respondent sent me this "Don't know if this helps much but I've looked at the 1830 Pigot's Directory entry for St Neots (the nearest town of any notable size) and there is a James Bull listed as being a bootmaker on St Neots' High Street. As your relative's wife was called Sarah Bull I just thought I'd mention it as they could be connected. Worth following-up as it seems a bit of a coincidence. Perhaps your g-g-g-grandfather worked in his father-in-law's shop? (just a thought)." This may well be, but there I can't see any way I can follow this up. Thank you and seasons greetings Ron Goodwin, Chorley, Lancs.
