    1. RE: St Ives & Needingworth
    2. David
    3. Hi Ray Holywell cum Needingworth, along with St Ives itself, was in St Ives registration district. Holywell registration district was in Wales so the Mary you found won't be the right one. Details of registration districts can be found at http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/reg/index.htm Your searching is not necessarily at fault! She may not have registered their births; simple as that. Failure to register was not required by law until 1874, failure to do so within 6 weeks being punishable by a fine, so prior to 1874 many births went unregistered. I can't see them either. If their births weren't registered perhaps they were baptised - but St Ives parish registers haven't been filmed by the LDS nor transcribed for sale by Hunts FHS, so they can only be viewed at Huntingdon Records office. Not good news, but at least you know your grey matter is functioning properly! Regards David RayBoy <zenxan@aol.com> a écrit : I am new to this list and thoroughly confused about registration districts. It is almost certainly my own grey cells that are failing me over this. I am researching the BARNETT family. According to the 1861 Census Ann BARNETT was born about 1832 in Needingworth. She was unmarried but had at that time 3 children - George b. 1853, Emma b 1856, and Betty b 1858 all in St Ives. She also had Mary Ann, my target, in 1868. I just cannot find a birth on the BMD for any of these children and wonder if I am looking for a non-existent Registration District. I did find a Mary b 1869 in Holywell - is this the correct Holywell as I see 3 others in my gazetteer. I have searched EVERY quarter from 1851 to 1870 for BARNETT births and found none in St Ives. Clearly, something is wrong with my search. 1. Mary Elizabeth PHILLIPS b.1824 Yaxley Hunts ~ Help?
    2. Trena
    3. If anyone is researching their roots from the Yaxley OPRs c1824 (or perhaps 1841 census), we wonder if you could keep an eye open for Mary Elizabeth PHILLIPS born 27th Sept. 1824. Birth date from her headstone in Canada. Her father was Thomas PHILLIPS born c1799 Yaxley, as per 1851 census. We are trying to find her mother's name. We do have her 1849 marriage to Edward BALLS, plus 1851 census data and births of 2 sons. Daughter Alice born c1854 yet to be found. They came to Canada c1855 - 3rd son born here in January 1856. Any help or suggestions would be most gratefully received. Cheers .. Toni ~ Ontario

    2. Margaret Harris
    3. Is there anyone with information on Salathiel KINGSTON born Stanground 1733. On the IGI record it states that his father was also Salathiel. A Salathiel married Mary HENRY in Stanground /Stilton IN 1763 My gt gt grandfather, William KINGSTON b. Stanground 1816 had a son Charles Salathiel KINGSTON. On the assumption that Salathiel is an unusual name I think there is a strong chance that he was related to William. However, there is also on the IGI a Salathiel KINGSTON 1696 born in Holme Hunts, father Salathiel mother Frances. If anyone is able to help I woul dbe delighted. Thanks Margaret Harris

    3. I am new to this list and seeking any links to my BAXTER ancestry, and also hoping to solve the following mystery. I am seeking details of the death of William BAXTER in Austria in 1870, having only recently found his Memorial Inscription on the grave of his parents at Alconbury Cum Weston. His death has not been found in Civil Registration or in the index to Deaths Abroad. His occupation was given as 'Railway Contractor - deceased' on the marriage certificate of his daughter Mary in 1880. So what was he doing in Austria? My tree looks like this: Thomas BAXTER (b. ca 1755) | m. 29 July 1779 in Bluntisham Cum Earith, HUN, ENG | Mary DOCKERILL (b. ca 1755) |____________________ | John BAXTER (b. ca 1790 - bap. 26 August 1790 Bluntisham Cum Earith) | m. 30 October 1810 in Alconbury Cum Weston, HUN, ENG | Mary RIGNAL (b. 1793 in Alconbury Cum Weston) |______________________ | William BAXTER (b. ca 1826, bap. 12 February 1826 in Alconbury Cum Weston) (died 27 August 1870, Austria - buried Alconbury Cum Weston) | m. ca. 1856 | Mary KEAY ( b. ca 1835, bap. 13 March 1836 in Whitchurch, SAL, ENG) |_________________________ | Mary Elizabeth BAXTER (b. 31 January 1859 in St Johns, Bedwardine, WOR, ENG) Mary was my great grandmother. She came to Melbourne, Australia in 1891 with her infant daughter, Daisy Roberta, but NOT with her husband Robert HANDCOCK. Mary's (only? brother) Alfred William BAXTER (b. 1861 in Worcester) went to Canada. I have very little information about him and have not been able to ascertain if he had any children. Sometime after William's death, his widow Mary, remarried to his brother, Richard BAXTER, (b. 1837, bap. 26 February 1837 in Alconbury Cum Weston). They lived in Whitchurch, Shropshire and his occupation was shown on the 1881 census as 'Aerated Water Manufacturer' and later, in 1892, as a Surveyor. I would be most grateful for any suggestions of further research strategies as I will be visiting Huntingdonshire in October. Jo Grant, Australia

    3. Hi, Can anyone assist with Baptism records for Little Massingham? I am looking for the baptism of William Newell, born circa 1837. His mother may be Sarah, but names of both parents would be appreciated. Many thanks, Derek
