    3. Wothorpe is a small collection of houses on the outskirts of Stamford, Lincs. It is actually in Northamptonshire, probably in the parish of Stamford St Martins. If you can find a Uk map of sufficiently large scale, it is on the A43 just outside Stamford. I passed it on my way to school in Stamford for many years! I believe that she was born in Woodwalton in 1859, at least that's what is written on the 1881 census. If SKS out there could fill in any blanks I would appreciate it. Also looking for her husband, JOSEPH KIRBY who gave his birth place as Worthorpe, Stanford in about 1861. Is this place in Huntingdon also? I have searched the LDS site for both of them to no avail. 1. Priests of Southoe
    2. Patrick Payne
    3. Dear List, Does anyone know if there are any published lists available giving information on priests in Southoe? I am searching for any details on the family of Rev. John Payne who married Anna Underhill? of Hail Weston and had daughter Anne (d. 1 Sep 1668 Guilford, Connecticut), who married 1 Aug 1636, William Leete (1612/1613-Apr 1683) of Toseland Hundred. William was the son of John Leete and Anne Shute of Medloe, Doddington, and he later became Governor of the New Haven, Ct. colony. A son of Gov. William and Anne (Payne) Leete, married into a family closely associated with the Paynes of nearby Bury St. Edmunds and Hengrave, Suffolk. I am trying to see if there might be some relation to the following John Payne: E 134/24Chas2/Mich26 John Payne v. Job Perratt: Manor and market of St. Neots (Hunts), lately belonging to the Earl of Sandwich, and the borough of Gumocester alias Godmanchester, parcel of the duchy of Lancaster. Tolls of market. Customs of manor, &c., &c.: Hunts 24 Chas 2 E 134/24&25Chas2/Hil9 John Payne v. Job Parrat: Town, manor, and market of St. Neots, and the borough of Gumocester alias Godmanchester. Whether the borough is parcel of the ancient demesne of England and now annexed to the duchy of Lancaster, and the tenants free of all manne 24 & 25 Chas 2 This last John Payne appears to have been connected to the family of Sir Robert Payne of Medloe and St. Neots, MP for the shire 1617-abt. 1625, whose family had leased the manor and market of St. Neots during the 16th century and maintained their interest there until 1672. The record above appears to be a suit in connection with that interest. Sir Robert's family were also active in Southoe. Any recommendations or information on these families would be appreciated. Regards, Patrick Payne

    2. Reed Nielsen
    3. Hi! I have searched and searched for William Palmer and Sophia. I found their marriage in 1789 in Newton Bromswold Northamptonshire. His daughter Mary Ann who married John Ekin Black alias Blackwell states on the 1851 census that she was born in St. Neots. There are at least 6 or 7 entries in the IGI stating him being born in St. Neots. But the marriage says he was from Higham Ferrers. I found him being born in 1766 in Finedon, NHS and his father was from Earls Barton, NHS Can anyone tell me why he was in St. Neots? Work, family, what? There is a William Palmer Priest in St. Neots...but it is not him from the wills I have searched. Any help would be appreciated Regards Nina

    2. Corinne Thompson
    3. Help! I need some very kind person who has access to the Parish Register for ELTON to see if there are any PARKINSONs Christened there between 1810 - 1820. I am desperately seeking the Christening of my gggrandfather John Parkinson, and possibly some siblings. The 1851 Census gives his place of birth as "Thorney, Cambridgeshire" but he wasn't Christened there. As possible sibling gives his birthplace as "Elton" in the 1851 Census. Kindest Regards ...... Corinne in Melbourne, Australia.
