Thank you for welcoming me to your mailing list. My name is Ken Thomas. I have always lived in or near Bristol. My interest in family history started in 1996. I am researching my GREGORY family links. My 3x gt grandfather was born in Yaxley. Olinthus Gilbert GREGORY was born 29.1.1774 and followed quite a special career until his death in Woolwich Kent on 2.2.1841. I know that he married Rebecca MARSHALL who I believe formerly lived in Farcet about 2 miles NE of Yaxley. All I know of her is that she and Olinthus had 2 children James born 20.6.1805 and Eliza (my 2x gt grandmother) born 20.11.1806. Sometime in the period 1806 to 1811 Rebecca GREGORY disappeared from known records. I must assume the died. Olinthus married again in that period. I understand that a rather grand tombstone exists at Yaxley Parish Church. Strangely, Olinthus is commemorated, together with his mother and father but there is no mention of Rebecca. In 1802 Olinthus was appointed Mathematics master at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, so if Rebecca had died it would have happened, most likely, in Woolwich. What I am wondering is if anyone else is researching the GREGORY family and would like to exchange information with me. I do have rather a lot on Olinthus but would very much like to know more about Rebecca. With best wishes to all listers, Ken Ken Thomas, Rose Green, Bristol

I have just checked through CD 26 completely, and at the end is a large lodging house with pages and pages of lodgers from all over the country including the Channel Islands. It runs from screen page 237 to 264 which is the end of the disc. The disc covers Newington, and for those from overseas it is just south of Southwark and not far from London Bridge. Happy hunting. Dear All Sorry if this is slightly off-topic. Am visiting Huntingdon Record Office this week with relatives, and would like some advice on suitable all-day parking. I used to park in St German's Street; the car park now appears to be buried underneath the new Sainsbury's. When I'm by myself, I use the free long stay car park, but the walk to the Record Office is further than I consider ideal, especially as we may wish to return to the car at lunchtime. Is there a better option? I visit Huntingdon two or three times a year, and have limited knowledge of the town. Regards Steven Gibbs Bedford

Hi Lee, James was being charged 5 shillings, 3 pence for the support of the parish poor, as a property owner or renter, based on the value of the property. Hope that helps.
