I notice that in the parish registers of St Albans Abbey, there seems to be a considerable Welsh community in the late 16th century. There appear not only the usual Welsh surnames, such as Jones and Price, but the older forms, e.g. ap Richard. Does anyone know why this should be? Regards, John Moore
