    3. Hi all, I'm new to this list and trying to find out something about Robert SIMON. Through a piece of sheer blind luck I discovered last week that he died in Watford, Herts., on 5 June 1939. Which explains why I haven't been able to find him in Wales! He is commemorated on his mother's gravestone at Llandrillo, as are two of his brothers who died in the USA. Robert's parents were Ellen THOMAS (c.1844-1906) and Walter SIMON (c.1843-1880). After Walter's death Ellen married Thomas PARRY (c1852-?). Robert's birth was registered in Aberayron in the December quarter of 1874, and his death in the June quarter of 1939 at Watford, aged 64. The cost of certs from Australia is fairly steep and I would rather try other avenues first. In 1891 Robert was living with his family in Llanynys, Denbighshire, and was an Ag Lab. By 1901 he had moved away - there is a possible Robert Owen SIMON of the right age, working as a Labourer in Chester - but he gives his birth place as the USA. Maybe he went to the USA with his brothers and, when he returned, it suited him to say he was born there? Or maybe it was just a case of confusion, especially if he was recently returned. We would love to know if he had a family, or if anyone remembers him - we have a lot family information we'd be delighted to share, particularly on the Australian branch and hisWelsh forebears. His uncle, Ellen's brother, moved to Australia and became my husband's great-grandfather. I don't know Robert's occupation, apart from labourer - would he feature in a directory or telephone book? Where is he likely to be buried? Are there any Herts burial records that might be available at a local (Aus) genealogical society? Or a newspaper that I could send a "seeking" letter to? So many questions! Many thanks, Loretta THOMAS Melbourne, Australia
