Hi, My name is Pauline and I live in Lancashire. I have just subscribed to this list and notice from the archives that there are people researching my family. Here is a copy of an email I have sent to one researcher and then I noticed that there are more of you: I am the great grand daughter of George Ansell and Elizabeth Ann Whittle who lived in Darwen, Lancashire. Elizabeth was first married to Abel (Abraham) Ansell, brother of George. George and Elizabeth never married but had seven children. Elizabeth also had 2 children with Abel. All the children of George were registered as HANSELL by their mother, in Blackburn except the only son, another George who was born in 1897 and registered as ANSELL by his father. This makes me suspect that the name was changed deliberately. I think that Abraham went back to Stevenage and married? again but not 100% sure on this. I have plenty of info on the ANSELLs and also the children of George and Elizabeth, one was my grandmother, Alice and another daughter, Elizabeth Ann known as Lily, married and went to Canada. I am in touch with the G-G-Grandson and the G-G-G-Grand-daughter of Lily. George, Abraham (Abel) and William, came north between the 1871 and 1881 census, probably to go to another brother, Edward, who was already in Little Smeaton, in Yorkshire.
