Hello Listers, Have just joined today hoping to find out about some of my ancestors, a Searle family from Bishops Stortford. I have quite a lot of dates and names going back to about 1750, most of which were sent to me by a descendants of Esau Searle who was transported to Australia in 1849. I would like to find out a bit more about how they lived and what Bishops Stortford was like in the late 18th & early 19th centuries. I know there were a lot of Searles in that area and it has taken a time to sort out who my direct line ancestors are. If it hadn't have been for my very very distant cousins in Oz I would still have been struggling. Would love to hear from anyone who can contribute to my (meagre) store of knowledge. I'd like to put "flesh on the bones".
