I am returning to the list after an absence of several years. My interest is in finding more about my ancestor's mother & grandparents. I think the best first place to look would be the 1841 census. What I know: Jane SOTHEY born 26 May 1836 & baptised at St Michael's in Milverton 21 May 1837. source: Milverton parish register entry #1321 page 166. Her mother was unwed woman named Sarah SOUTHEY. I am hopeful that SKS has the 1841 census of Milverton and can see if there is a Jane SOUTHEY (age 4 or 5) in household with a woman named Sarah.
