Hello Listers, Am still trying to get some information on SEARLE family from Bishops Stortford. I have: Thomas SEARLE marr. Hannah GILBEY 1776 John SEARLE B. 1797 marr. Kezia CLARK 1820. John died in Hertford Gaol in 1847. His son Esau was transported in 1848. Another son, Cornelius, who was born in SUFFOLK in 1829 was also transported. Am trying to find out why family were in Suffolk. Further children were born later in Bishops Stortford. John's son William SEARLE born 1821 married (I think Sarah BRADFORD) and they had son Thomas in 1843. I can trace a William and Sarah from 1861 and Thomas and descendants forward from then. I found Kezia SEARLE on 1851 census when it was online for a few days and she was a servant for a family in Hockerill. Apparently she died in South Mill,Bishops Stortford in 1875 but again I can find no record if this or any later census details other than 1851. I have sent for a couple of birth and marriage certs. where applicable but would be grateful if anyone can fill in the missing details. Hi Barbara, I found this in a Hertfordshire Qr session Book in HALs Epithany Session 1838. John Searle of Bishops Stortford, for Assaulting Davey Brindley special constable 3 Mths Hard Labour . No other details.
