I used to be married to one, but she thought the grass was greener the other side of the fence, she cost me an arm and a leg. David Judd Thanks for the suggestions David. There's not that many HAMP's about, but Oxford, Bucks, and a few other counties all seem to have a family or 3. Mine may have started in Bucks, but the only ancient information I have is a birth in Enfield c1807, of my 3x great grandfather, Joseph HAMP/HEMP, then his marriage, 1833 in London, after which he moved to Ware, where he died. He and his wife had about 16 children. Some of the children then went back to London, my gggrandparents were one of the couples that did. Most of the family were Gardeners or Grocers There was, if memory serves me correct, a Hamp in Tring in the 1700's. Haven't found any family connection as yet. I'm in contact with a HAMP, who is doing extensive research on the HAMP's, and I'm trying to help him gather as much info as pos, as rumour has it that the HAMP's all originated in Bucks. I suspect that's an old wives tale, but you never know. We have census details, and as many bmd's that we can lay our hands on, so we can piece together the families, (or rather he can as he does most of the hard work) however, any other/and/or/additional info would be great. Myself, am particularly interested in any info on HAMP's to be found anywhere in Herts. Thanks again David for your kind suggestions Lois ==== ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE Mailing List ==== Hertfordshire FHS: http://www.btinternet.com/~hfphs/index.htm
