Hello Joan I've looked right through the 1851 census for the town of Hertford but could only find a George Ives, aged 36, born in Stanstead, Hertfordshire. So I then looked through Stanstead and found a James Ives, 22, born in Broxbourne, Herts, with wife/children, Joseph Ives, 36, born Stanstead, again wife/children, a John Ives aged 25 but born in Quandon(?) Essex, with wife Mary 24, born Stanstead, no children, and a Benjamin Ives aged 32 unmarried, living as a lodger. If you'd like all the details I can send them. Sorry not to have been able to come up with anything more definite.
