Hi Paul, There is a marriage on Free BMD in the March quarter of 1883 in Watford reg district (which includes Sarratt) vol 3a, page 499 of an Hamlet Edwin HEDGE. There are 2 grooms names recorded and only one bride. However, I think you are in luck. The bride's name is Emily Maria JOYNER and on the 1891 census, Hamlet is in Croxley Green, Hertfordshire (PRO Ref: RG/12/1121, folio 107, page 4, schedule 23, Little Green Cott) with wife Emily (aged 31 born Herts, Kings Langley) and children Caroline (aged 7), Alice (aged 4) and Lily (aged 2) all born Croxley Green. The date of the marriage fits in quite well with the birth of the eldest daughter, so is certainly worth investigating. Just in case Emily is the correct bride, I looked for her on the 1861 census and found her in Kings Langley: PRO Ref: RG9/837, folio 62, page 15 Schedule 65, Langley Hill George JOINER Head Mar 39 Labourer in Brewhouse Bucks Clusham (?) Esther do Wife Mar 34 Straw Plaiter do Wycombe Phillip do Son 12 Errand Boy Herts Kings Langley Mary do Daur 10 Scholar do do Elizabeth do Daur 8 do do do Ann do Daur 6 do do do Richard do Son 3 do do Emily do Daur 1 do do This tends to confirm that Hamlet's bride was indeed Emily Maria Joyner and hopefully the marriage certificate will match all the above details.
