I wonder if anyone might be able to help with a baptism record for my great great grandfather John Bray RUDD. He was born about 1826. According to the 1871 census he was born in Red Hill, Hertfordshire. In the 1881 census he gave his place of birth as Landown, Hertfordshire. I can't find Landown anywhere on Genuki or in my road atlas but there does seem to be a small village called Redhill which is near Wallington, Baldock and Letchworth. John moved to London where he married Isabel HUNTER on 27th November 1858 in Stepney. At the time of the marriage he was a licensed victualler but by 1871 he was working as a wheelwright. I don't know how accessible the early Hertfordshire censuses are and I don't know when John moved to London but if anyone is able to locate him in the 1851 census I would also be most grateful.
