Hi Dot: Sorry if I confused you over where the 1851 census info related to - it was the 1851 census for Portsea, Hampshire, and Elizabeth CHALKLEY and her sister were from that area, nothing to do with Herts. William Robert WILLCOCKS remarried as a widower in 1858, in Hampshire, to Sarah J. GILES, who claimed St. Albans as her birthplace in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses. At the marriage, her father's name was given as George GILES. What I am trying to find out is more about Sarah J. GILES, given that her father was George. So far, she has not turned up in Herts in 1851. She could well have been in Hampshire by 1851, with her father, or could have been somewhere entirely different! I would really like to know if she was in St. Albans in 1841, aged 10, with her father George, and any other family members. Does anyone on the list have access to the 1841 census for a lookup, please? Any information greatly appreciated! Regards Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA.
