    3. Hello Ann, You can check out your theory with the IGI Search page http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true Put in the name THOMAS TURNER, year 1815, and location etc British Isles/England/ Hertford >>>>> you get THOMAS TURNER - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: About 25 JUN 1815 Sawbridgeworth, Hertford, England parents William and Elizabeth TURNER Take out Thomas and put in an asterix, then add William to father and Elizabeth to mother [forget about surname] also put 20 yrs +- 1815. Earlier records do not alway record the mother in the register so if few or nothing comes up just leave out the mother You will then get brothers and sisters of Thomas; >>>>>> 1. WM. SHIPTON Marriage: 07 MAY 1806 Sawbridgeworth, Hertford, England Repeat and work generation after generation back. If there is a problem a record may not transcribed, very often grooms come from other parishes. Also this method shows if the couple have moved around after marriage with children born in different places. I hope this helps .... you may be back to 1700 in no time and you have a lot more surnames to look up. Thank you for the images. After an initial glitch of downloading nothingness I got all six images. My gtgt grandfather Henry and his parents William & Mary Gailor or Gaylor as I know the surname up til now, I love seeing their names on censuses because I suddenly feel I am getting somewhere with my tree. I recognise some of the Turner names on the other images, like Richard & William and their ages make them possibles for Thomas's brothers. Being very cheeky here, you didnt happen to find Thomas & Ann Turner on your census, pretty please. Your comment on the Family search website struck a chord with me because most of yesterday morning I spent jumping from one area to another trying to extract all the Turner names that had Sawbridgeworth as a place of birth. I had 4 pages of names in the end & a headache, then spent the evening trying to colour code (highlighter pens, very useful 4 this) the different families, then wrote them out in date order. So any hints to make it a less painful experience would be appreciated. I think the family goes like this Thomas & Ann Turner parents of Elizabeth (1840ish) who marries Henry Gailor/Gaylor William & Elizabeth Turner parents of Thomas (1815) And then I have a choice of William & Mary or Richard & Susan for the parents of William (1780-1786). What do you think? Thank you again for the images, I have plenty of Suffolk censuses if you need a lookup. Regards Ann Suffolk Visit my Website at http://snowdropsgarden.co.uk
