Hello Tezz, You need a birth Certificate for her which will give her parents names and DOB. From that you can get a marriage Certificate for her parents and then you should be close to the [magic] date of the 1901 Census. One there it should be reasonably easy to trace through the generations back to the 1851 Census. Thence, you can use the IGI and parish records with much luck to 1580 when records began. You should be able to support the documentation with a whole host of tax records, wills, court records, electoral roles, et cetera and can go back even further. Well that is the theory. Try to include other siblings, and even cousins, in your research. Each generation has two parents to look for so for every 100 years you have about family surnames to look up, so in 200 years 64, 300 years 512+ and so on. Plenty to keep you busy, and you will probably meet your self along the way [loops], and a few illegitimacies.
