Hi All, I am hoping to hear from those people who have access to census details for Bishop Stortford and who may be able to assist me to locate the following people: Census 1881: William Stephen Shoobridge & his wife, Elizabeth (aged approx. 55 and 65) and their son, Leonard aged approx 22. Try Stallabrass on the LDS 1881 Census and you get William and Elizabeth and their family includes "Stockbridge Stallabrass" aged 22... William is 70 years old but Elizabeth is 65 A name like Shoobridge is screaming out for someone to mistranscribe it. Only Leonard in BS in 1901 of age 40 - 44 is Leonard Bell; are you sure about Bishops Stortford? only about a dozen Leonards (surname starting "SH") of that age in the whole country. You can look for yourself on the PRO Census site by using wildcards such as SH* for all words beginning SH. You can't do wildcards on LDS but you can look for all Leornards of the right age or what I did, all Elizabeths the right age in Hertfordshire. There is only a few hundred....
