    3. If anyone is willing to assist with an 1841 census lookup, I would be grateful. I am looking for a family, including one or both parents Mary and William NORRIS, with possible children including Charles aged about 16 and Simeon aged about 13, and perhaps others (likely older), living Northchurch or Berkhampstead, Herts. Any results, whether trascription or image, would be most welcome. Thank you. Regards Ian in Canberra

    3. Hello Listers, I am having trouble identify my Great grandfather George CUTMORE. He was born either 1815, 1821 or 1832 in Thundridge, Hertfordshire. I know he married Margaret PALLETT in 1855, on the marriage certificate it lists George's father as John PALLETT. No mother mentioned. On the Census:- 1861 age 41 1871 age 50 1881 age 59 1891 age 72 He did not seem to know his correct age, understandable in those days if you could not read or write. Regardless of the above, I do have a problem in identifying his parents, particularly his mother who was either Ann or Lidia. Any suggestions from any one to help me solve this problem. Regards, Jill Jackson Australia

    3. Jill, From vital records a child born in 1817 in Thundridge CUTMORE, George Christening Gender: Male Christening Date: 1 Jun 1817 Recorded in: Thundridge, Hertfordshire, England Father: John Cutmore Mother: Lydia Source: FHL Film 991325 Dates: 1813 - 1838 This couple were together in 1814 CUTMORE, Hannah Christening Gender: Female Christening Date: 9 Oct 1814 Recorded in: Thundridge, Hertfordshire, England Father: John Cutmore Mother: Lydia Source: FHL Film 991325 Dates: 1813 - 1838 There was a John Cutmore who married Ann Meggs 2 April 1831 Thundridge but Ann would not be your George's mother. I had a look at your George Cutmore on the 1861 census and living with him or next door - the very next entry on the 1861 census is William Cutmore age 54 - with a big NK - meaning birthplace not known. Looking for a William Cutmore born approx 1804 you find William Cutmore christened 3 apr 1803 Thundridge, Hertford England father John Cutmore mother Lydia batch number C072981 They are living at what looks like Wades Mill Thunderidge I would think you would be very safe in assuming that Lydia is the mother of your George. There was a Lydia Cutmore who died in 1855 and the death was registered in Ware which is only 2 miles away. If someone could do a look up for you on the 1851 census for Thunderidge I bet you would find the family. Let me know if you would like to see the original census image. Hope this is helpful Gay O'Neill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jill Jackson" <jilljackson@optusnet.com.au> To: <ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 17, 2005 5:40 PM Subject: RE: [HRT] finding John Cutmore > Hello Listers, > I am having trouble identify my Great grandfather George CUTMORE. > He was born either 1815, 1821 or 1832 in Thundridge, Hertfordshire. > I know he married Margaret PALLETT in 1855, on the marriage > certificate it lists George's father as John PALLETT.
