Hi, Could someone tell me what the above was in 1871 please. It seems to have a lot of people there in the census, and I am not sure if it was some sort of work house??? Thanks Sherry

Sherry It's Duck Hall (or Duckhall - I've seen it written both ways) which was an estate/hamlet. Try putting these coordinates 504974,205741 into http://old-maps.co.uk/ and it will eventually lead you to a small map. Select Enlarged View from the menu at the bottom and you'll get a superb map from 1883 which will be centred on Duckhall (you'll have to move the map around a bit to find it though!) Paula
