From 1754 to 1929 girls between 12 and 21 and boys between 14 and 21 could get married with parental consent or a special licence. Over 21s (those of "full age") didn't need either! In 1929 the lower age was raised to 16 for both sexes and in 1969 "full age" was lowered to 18.
