Hi all, Just starting a bit of research on this name. My g.g.grandmother Clara SEARLL married Arthur HIPGRAVE in March 1874 in Croydon, Surrey. Arthur was born abt.1849 in Hertfordshire. I've checked on the civil registration records, and I've found an Arthur HIPGRAVE b.Sep 1849, District Hertford, County Hertfordshire. In the 1891 census they had five children: Walter (6), Clara (8), Charles (10), Richard (16), and George (19)(George was born out of wedlock, his birth cerficate shows his surname as Searll). I found him (spelled HEPGRAVE) on the 1871 census for Morden, Surrey (age 22) living as a boarder with another "HEPGRAVE" family --- as follows: Head: George Hepgrave (age 49 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) Wife: Elizabeth Hepgrave (age 40 - born Shoreditch, Middlesex) Son: James C Hepgrave (age 18 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) Son: Samuel Hepgrave (age 13 - born Dutchworth, Hertfordshire) Daughter: Agnes J Hepgrave (age 11 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) Daughter: Emily Hepgrave (age 8 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) Son: David G Hepgrave (age 6 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) Son: Walter Hepgrave (age 4 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) Son: Douglas W Hepgrave (age 1 month - born Morden, Surrey) Boarder: Arthur Hepgrave (age 22 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) Boarder: David Hepgrave (age 33 - born Datchworth, Hertfordshire) If anyone has the 1851 & 61 census I would really appreciate a look up of these families. Wondering why Arthur and David are living with family in Morden. Thank you. Kind regards, Bev Searle-Freeman Dease Lake, BC Canada
