Had another thought... The entry in the Gentleman's Magazine is not proof that an actual marriage took place. It could have been an intended marriage which actually never took place. (Groom died/ Bride changed her mind) The marriage entry for 1797 should state whether or not she was a widow. Try looking for a marriage licence.
