Hi Lisa, Knowing now that William was still alive in 1891, I had another look at the census. In 1881 he is indexed as KINWOOD & is with his new family & Alice's Uncle Charles. In 1871 the Henrietta in London was a different one. William is with his new wife & her son plus Henrietta indexed as LONGWOOD. Regards, Glen. I couldn't find a death for William Linwood either but I did find him alive and well in 1891, still in Wormley but with a new wife. A fib on Alice's part, perhaps, made easier by marrying outside of their home county. It's possible that Alice's family weren't thrilled about her choice of husband - by the time the couple married in 1881 two of Aaron's brothers had extensive criminal records. Thanks to everyone who responded. I've learnt a lot from this, not only about the history of my ancestors but also some different approaches to solving a mystery that will surely be useful in my research. What a clever bunch you are!
