    1. [HRT] Daniel WALLER - Coroner's Inquest 1843
    2. Sue Waller
    3. I have a copy of the death certificate of Daniel Waller who died in Bovingdon in 1843. The informant is the Coroner from St. Albans. The cause of death looks like "Visitation of God, illness caused by want of necefsarys." Does that sound as if he starved to death or died because he had nobody to care for him? Would there have been an inquest and if so can someone advise me as to which newspaper may have carried the story at the time? Thank you. Would there have been an inquest and if so > can someone advise me as to which newspaper may have carried the story> "Visitation of God" was an old term in the 19th century for a stroke or heart attack. Perhaps he was an elderly man who lived alone and had nobody to look after him, so declined. It is unlikely, I would have thought, in such a case there would have been an inquest. However, the best place to discover what papers would have covered St Albans in 1843 is at the British Library's newspaper library website (the newspaper library at Colindale). You can find this quite easily with Google. -- Roy Stockdill Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
