Cindy, I've just had a look at my 1793 map of Hertfordshire ( J Carey ) and there is definitely somewhere called SLOWMANS near Watling Street south of St Albans - the other side of the railway from Frogmore Unfortunately the map is in a frame, so I can\t scan it and send to you.
