Dear Celia, I would suggest you are looking for Sele Farm. Sele House and Sele (corn) Mill and Sele Grange are clearly listed on my copy of an 1898 Old Ordnance Survey Map (Godfrey Maps) at the North western side of Hertford just south of Bengeo near Welwyn Road and Hertfingfordbury Road. It comes under St Andrew's parish. On a mid 1990's tourist street map of Hertford a Sele School and Sele Road is listed obviously commemorating the landmark which appears to be long gone.
