Hi, I am new to this list, but not to several others. I am looking for further details about the parents and forebears of WILLIAM COOPER bapt 24/5/1795 Baldock, son of WILLIAM and FANNEY who may be Cooper but possibly COWPER. William married Elizabeth Brown in 1816 in Baldock if this helps you make a connection. Their daughter Elizabeth married John Chapman (my great grandparents)who made their home in Linton, Cambs. Thank you. Judy

Janet, Thank you for these useful resources which I probably would not have found online. I shall forward to my UK cousins . I have used Hugh's site early on in my research, so worth a revisit and then confirmation at the source. Militia lists... now I have not come across those. Where do I find them for UK? I guess they were like a army who could be called up in an emergency?
