    3. Hello Lynne It looks like the owners were Major and Mrs Shepherd-Cross in 1922 according to the "THE LEVERSTOCK GREEN CHRONICLE". Have a look at this web page (just over half way down) http://lgchronicle20.homestead.com/1922.html There is part of an article which reads - "End of August 1922 - Nursing funds got a boost when "a fete was held in the pretty and commodious grounds of Serge Hill by kind invitation of Major and Mrs Shepherd-Cross who had made elaborate arrangements for the success of the event., besides taking an active part in all the work. The proceeds were for the nursing funds of Leverstock Green & Abbots Langley, and many from both parishes gave valuable help in a variety of ways. There were stalls of different sorts, ......." I am trying to find out a bit about the history of this house and who owned it around 1900-1920 I think it may have beeen an Army Officer. It appears on the 1911 census that Mary Anne was the only person living there on census night, which I find a bit strange as it is a rather large house with 22 rooms. Rg Lynne.
