Hi All, I have discovered that my father and his brother had a half sister, a well kept secret. On the 1901 and 1911 census, Lily is listed as a Niece, but she is infact the illegitimate daughter of my grandmother Ellen Fordham who in 1900 married Herman Nullmeyer. I have found a marriage, for a Lillian Fordham in Hitchin in Dec 1912 to a Thomas J. Hayward, my grandparents did live in Watford around this time. I would like to fined the family of this lady, any help would be most appreciated. Hi Lynne I have an Ellen FORDHAM in my tree. She was born in 1865 in Little Munden, Hertfordshire and was the daughter of Thomas FORDHAM and Fanney (surname unknown). If you think there is a connection, I have a lot more information on this family. Jean, Looking at the census records of Little Munden, in the 1861 census it states that Fanny FORDHAM was born there c1828. Looking back at the 1851 census, there is only 1 Fanny enumerated as born at that time at Little Munden and that is a Fanny MILLS. She is in the 1841 census of Little Munden with father William, mother Sarah and numerous siblings. Just to confirm my theory, I then looked on the GRO Index for a marriage registration for a Thomas FORDHAM to a Fanny after 1851 and came up with the following: Sep qtr 1851 at Ware reg district, vol 6, page 859 Thomas FORDHAM and a corresponding entry for a Fanny MILLS.
