In the 1901 census he is a RN Lieutenant on board HMS Vulcan, a Torpedo Depot Ship. The ship is at Grand Harbour, Malta and he is listed as not on board. Age 26, married, born Burgh Lincs. This was on Findmypast; Ancestry have him but as Cranford.
