I have just looked through the Church records for Wormley & Essendon. Seeing as there seem to be quite a few of the TOOKE family 'of' these two places the lack of BMDs for them is a little disappointing. Wormley, records only start in 1674, no TOOKE events noted. Essendon, records commence 1653. Ralph TOOKE was the minister till his death [bur 21 Nov 1657] I suspect he may have been son of George TOOKE by 1st wife Anne TUCK [+ 1642] George m[2] Margery CONINGSBY Ralph m 1656 Nth Mimms Blanche, dau of Thos CONINGSBY, of Nth Mimms [sister of Margery supra]. They baptised one son William in early Oct 1657, bur 13 Oct. Auditor TOOKE & his wife buried in a grave 20 Nov 1655. This has to be James & Dorothy GRAY. John TOOKE, esq. & wife Elizabeth baptised the following. She was dau Thos DACRES, of Cheshunt m Cheshunt 1638, John was the son of Thomas + c 1670 by Judith TROTT. Elizabeth 1653 John 1657. They had also baptised Ralph & Martha in Cheshunt in 1641 & 44 respectively. No doubt there are missing kids. I have scanned the registers till early 18th C with nothing further found.
