Hello Josie, I cannot help you with your specific question but I too am tracing the Crawley line and you may be able to help me. My earliest Crawley was James, born 1815 in Stepney, London. He obviously had connections with the three counties because he married Ann Cox (from Haynes) in Luton and 9 of their 10 children were born in Tring, and one in Berkhamstead. Their names were Eliza, Emma, Charlotte, Sarah Matilda, Jane, Walter, Henry Copeland, Ernest Joseph, Herbert William and Agnes. Do you recognise any of these names? Thanks Neil (Australia) _____________________________________________________________________________ On Thu, 28 Jan 2010 13:28:32 +1100, Goolwa Time <rodjosie@bigpond.net.au> wrote: > Hi can anyone help me.i am mainly looking for details on the CRAWLEY side > I have a Rachel Crawley who married into the Butterfields family. > but her siblings which are 11 i think,i would like to know more. > also her parents,Grandparents if any one can help > i would really appreciate it > thanks and regards > Josie > > Hertfordshire Surnames List > > http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~hughw/hertford.html > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' > without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/

Hi Neil , have you found your James b 1815 in the census or had he already gone to Australia by 1841 ? Have you found the HALS online surname index ? it includes the Allen marriage index and probably one of the best resources available for accurate real information on Herts families . Just google HALS and you will get to the Herts site ......and hidden almost in the top right corner is a tiny box of tricks, click on the Herts names online bit . Did your James and Ann Cox marry after 1837 ? life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil Patulny" <npatulny@netspace.net.au> To: <eng-hertfordshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 28, 2010 10:39 PM Subject: Re: [HRT] BUTTERFIELD & CRAWLEY Families > Hello Josie, > > I cannot help you with your specific question but I too am tracing > the Crawley line and you may be able to help me. > > My earliest Crawley was James, born 1815 in Stepney, London. > > He obviously had connections with the three counties because he married > Ann Cox (from Haynes) in Luton and 9 of their 10 children were born in > Tring, and one in Berkhamstead. > > Their names were Eliza, Emma, Charlotte, Sarah Matilda, Jane, Walter, > Henry Copeland, Ernest Joseph, Herbert William and Agnes. > > Do you recognise any of these names? > > Thanks > > Neil (Australia) > > _____________________________________________________________________________ > > On Thu, 28 Jan 2010 13:28:32 +1100, Goolwa Time <rodjosie@bigpond.net.au> > wrote: > >> Hi can anyone help me.i am mainly looking for details on the CRAWLEY side >> I have a Rachel Crawley who married into the Butterfields family. >> but her siblings which are 11 i think,i would like to know more. >> also her parents,Grandparents if any one can help >> i would really appreciate it >> thanks and regards >> Josie >> >> Hertfordshire Surnames List >> >> http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~hughw/hertford.html >> >> ------------------------------- >> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >> ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' >> without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > -- > Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ > > > Hertfordshire Surnames List > > http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~hughw/hertford.html > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without > the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
