Wow! Thanks Tony - this is just the response I have been hoping for - I know it is a long shot and have no idea how to confirm this is my John. But it gives me something to go on. I will try to follow this family through the census's - perhaps names of children etc. may be repeated and offer some support. This is the best news I have had for some time. Happy New Year - this is a good start for me. Hi Elizabeth Not just a long shot because some of the children of Thomas and Ann appear as Everet, not sure how you would confirm this but when I next go to Hertfordshire Archives I will have another look at the Parish register and see if the d could be a t or tt Regards Tony ----- Original Message ----- From: "donlizw" <donlizw@netspace.net.au> To: <eng-hertfordshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 01, 2010 11:19 AM Subject: Re: [HRT] JOHN EVERETT > Wow! Tony - thanks for the offer to check out the archives. I went into IGI with the name Evered and found a number of children to Thomas and Ann so I will follow up this through our local centre. Some of John's children have similar names to his siblings but then so does his wife - Mary Jane. At the time of their marriage he used his mark thus supporting the variants in spelling. All his convict records and later records have him as Everett - at least this is consistent. But not enough for me to find his death in Tasmania or Victoria where he moved at the end of his sentence.
