They are living at Porthills, and Wm Hy Aram is described as 35, clerk to a solicitor, N for not born in county , with him is Charlotte, 35, N , Henry , 12, N, Emily ,8 , William, 6 , Thomas, 4, Edward, 2 all Y from Emily onward . There is in A2A and probably on the HALS site , a very likely letter dated Sept 1845, from Wm Toms of Cox`s Sq, Spitalfields, to Mr Wm Henry Oram , thanking him for his letter etec ...........and earlier an apprentice indenture signed by John Davies, mayor of Hertford and Wm Hy Oram ......maybe John Davies was the solicitor for whom Wm Hy worked ? although that said there are many other apprentice indentures which are signed by Wm Hy . There is a further letter between Wm Toms, malt factor of Cox`s Sq and Wm Hy on behalf of Philip Longmore , Hertford , maybe this is the solicitor for whm he worked in 1845 . life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gail Heeley" <gailheeley1@yahoo.com.au> To: <ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2010 9:00 AM Subject: [HRT] Oram Family of Hertford > Hi, I am new to this list and have just started looking for my family in > Hertford. Hi, glad to please ........that is always a good thing to think laterally and if you are searching try any variants of the name .......or just search under the most unusual of the Christian names , ie Charlotte or Emily .....no point trying John !!! And the National Archives is divided into various sections , and Access to Archives will come up on a google search and just click on Advanced search , and you will see various boxes, put Oram in " this exact working or phrase " and then Repository , scroll down to Hertford Archives and Local Studies ........and you can then see the letters and from the blue highlighted Hertford Archives you can see how write to or email Herts RO for copies . HALS website unfortunately mixes Oram with Boram and Coram and Orams and Goram , but there is a note of WH Oram obituary on page 3 of the County Press, of 14th March 1854 , Hertford . aged 45 . life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gail Heeley" <gailheeley1@yahoo.com.au> To: <eng-hertfordshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2010 2:47 PM Subject: Re: [HRT] Oram Family of Hertford > Thanks Elizabeth how wonderful that you found him. > > Now being new what is A2A and how do I look it up and find the info you > gave > me.
