    3. George Griffiths Esquire married Annie Malmesbury Woodrow on 20 January 1876 at St Matthews Brixton. Groom's Father Edwin Griffiths Col in the Army. Bride's Father Robert Woodrow Esquire. Solemnized by J. L. Roberts, Vicar of Spratton. G. M. Roberts, sister, was one of several witnesses but Jane was not there. (Her husband was with the Army in India rising at least to the rank of Major General.) So all three kids of the second marriage are now present and correct. I have a nagging feeling though it was the first marriage we were asked to help with! Thanks Simon for the ancestry clue , this is the right one and explains entirely that Margaret MacKensie was b 1802 Bishopsgate, London, m Henry Brooks, 1825, married Edwin Griffiths , Parramatta May 1843 ........it also says that Margaret died in NSW in 1867, and interestingly that the family arrived in NSW three days before Christmas in 1822, on the Admiral Cockburn . Of Margaret and Edwin`s three children , Jane Augusta b 1845 seems to have married someone called Lees, and to have died 1891 . This doesn`t have anything further for George, b 1844 , nor for Georgina Marianne. The Australian owner of the The Norton Tribe is Patrick , on witelite@adam.com.au and the tree was last updated in Dec 2009... the Mackenzies are a very interesting family . There doesn`t however seem to be anything more about the origins of Col Edwin . life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony M. 3. Capt. Griffiths (HM 96th Regt.) and his wife arrived Calcutta July 1851 on board the "Sir Edward Paget", from Sydney. I presume this is Edwin. Source Bengal Directory 1850-51. See http://search.fibis.org/frontis/bin/aps_detail.php?id=572011 I've checked a number of sources I use for India and can't find anything further. Simon.

    3. Hi, this explains the lack of sighting in the 1851, a trip from Sydney to Calcutta , heavens above all that ocean , would have taken months , so they certainly weren`t in the UK for the spring taking of the 1851 census ............. And yes the original enquiry , long past, was about the origins of Eliza Ann Lucas dau of Henry Lucas and Charlotte double barrelled whose name I have forgotten, and we have simply established that she was dead in 1843 , leaving these four children , one of whom Emily we know survived , but what happened to Edwina b Cheshunt 1819 , and the two boys chr in 1832 Edwin Arthur and Frederick ? Is anyone going into the HALS office ? and could they check the burials of Cheshunt 1819-1843. life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=/// ----- Original Message ----- From: "Simon Harding" <simon@greynose.net> To: <eng-hertfordshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 11, 2010 11:38 PM Subject: Re: [HRT] Baptismal look up please, Griffiths > Capt.
