    3. The informant may well have been the Master or Matron of the Union Workhouse. This was the case for one of my ancestors from the same period. If you can find a census entry for 1841 or 1851 (more likely) there is a chance you could confirm this. Otherwise there may be registers at HALS. The registration district at the top is given as Ware Union and the informant, 10 days later, is described as 'inmate' but is not the childs mother or father or to my knowledge related.
