    3. Thank you Michael & Elizabeth for your replies. Im sorry I should have mentioned that Wallingford was in Berks/Oxfordshire not in Herts seeing I was on the Herts list. I guess I was hoping that someone may have known the parentage of Matilda BROWN, or William YEOMANs and they might have had an ABSOLON mother and thus form a link. I know I am thinking way out here, but maybe worth a try. Without knowing parents it is really difficult to identify which, or any of the John ABSOLON/Ms born towards the end of the 1700s in Wallingford might be mine. Several people have checked Wallingford PRs for me, and the John's that are there seem to be accounted for with other brides and families. Census ages concur he was born in 1798, except for the 1871 census which at age 74 calculates to him being born 1797. John was a Baker, but I have no idea where, or who with, he did his trade - maybe it was in Herts seeing he married Susan there. He certainly doesnt appear on the Apprentices list on the HALS website. Maybe Susan had been working in Wallingford or Clerkenwell. The couple certainly werent living in Herts in c1824 when their first known child, Eliza Amelia, was born in St Pancras. John may have simply been born in Wallingford and his family could actually have been living in Herts or anywhere for that matter when, and if he was baptised. Henry was buried in Bunhill Fields cemetery in 1846, the death being registered in Shoreditch. The couple named their sons that I know of Henry Jonathon; William; John (Jack) and George Richard (Dick). I suspect Jonathon is after Susan's father Jonathon STONE of Herts. Perhaps someone may know of a particular naming order used in Herts area that may give me a clue to John's father's name. There are no other clues on the Marriage entry as to John's parentage. It seems from census records that all the known children were born in St James Clerkenwell parish. If anyone has any Herts, probably St Mary's Rickmansworth parish baptism registers c1821-22, I would appreciate a check for any earlier children of John and Susan/nah that may have been born in Herts that might have not survived. I have written all that I know in the hope that someone may be able to point me in another direction with clues that I already have. Thank you in anticipation for any further advice, Estelle (in rural Australia) > Date: Tue, 2 Feb 2010 12:46:51 +0100 > From: michael@walsby.eu > To: eng-hertfordshire@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [HRT] BROWN & YEOMAN 1821 Marriage witnesses > > Just to mention that Wallingford is now in Oxfordshire, and in any deep > research you may have to contact both counties' record offices and > Rootsweb lists.
