There was a school there in the 1940s and '50s, I think on Manland Avenue itself -- Manland School, which relatives of mine attended at one time -- a hop, skip and jump from where I grew up on Station Road. Don't know about the orphanage -- though I remember a National Children's Home nearby in the same decades. I think it may have been on Westfield Avenue .....? I assume that the children would attend a nearby school, so I would be most grateful if anyone can give a clue as to which school this would be, and if any school records are available for inspection?
