Hi All: Can anyone help me find a Sarah J GILES b. abt. 1830 in St. Alban's, Herts, please? er father was George GILES, as stated in her marriage register record from Portsea, 1858: Entry no 188 Page 94. 22 Mar 1858. At St. Mary's, Portsea. William Robert Willcocks, age 32, Widower, Baker/Grocer Sarah Giles, Age 28, Spinster. Fathers: William Willcocks, Foreman of Smiths. George Giles, Office Clerk. Printed, MARRIED BY......(left blank, usually the word Banns is handwritten here)....OR AFTER....(Handwritten) Certificate by me, W. H. Mannan. The birth place is given as St. Alban's on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses. I have been unable to fine 1871 or 1861 census entries, and the couple moved around quite a lot, as evidenced by their children's birthplaces. I can provide this information on request, if it will help. Ages stated are 49 (1881), 60 (1891) and 69 (1901). Any help greatly appreciated Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA.

The John I have was born 10 May 1747 in Clothall, married 29 Nov 1777 in Gt. Munden and died 9 Feb 1823 in Gt Munden. According to the 1881 census Thomas BATES (aged 62) his wife Harriet (aged 56)and a grandson Thomas (3) were residing at Watford Heath, Watford. I believe Thomas is the brother of my great grandfather Benjamin Bates b. c1815 and who married Sarah Knowles at Rickmansworth on June 5th, 1837. (The marriage register shows Noles while the birth certificates for her children show Nowles / Knowles). I would very much like to hear from anyone descended from or connected to Thomas and Harriet. I believe they had 8 children:- (I stand to be corrected on that) Mary Ann. b c1845, William. b c1850, Jane. b c1852, Frances. b c1855 Ann. b c1858, Samuel. b c1860, Emma. b c1863, Sarah Ann. b c 1865 To-date I have not found the birth of the grandson Thomas.
