    3. Hi Cynthia, I dont know whether this might help, but at the time in which you are interested, all clergymen attended either Oxford or Cambridge University. The letters after his name are indicative of the degree he read at one of the universities. Both Universities have produced published works of all who attended their institutions and, with luck there is sometimes a "potted" history of the person concerned. I have checked the Alumni for Cambridge and there is no Maurice Phillips, so you need to check Alumni Oxoniensis (sp?). I'm afraid I dont have access to this, but you may find it in a good university or public library, or someone on the list may have access to a copy. Hope this helps Sandra Cynthia Foley wrote: >I'm at a complete dead end. Can anyone help. 3. Sorry Helen, To search through the 1851 census of Hertfordshire for your Giller twins would be a massive task as I have no name index. If you have any indication of where they might be, that is a different kettle of fish altogether as I would have something to go on. 3. Try contacting the Hertfordshire Record Office (HALS) using e-mail address 'Herts Direct' and address your e mail to the 'Archivists at HALS'. They are a very professional, knowledgable and helpful team. They will be able to give advise you all about non conformist registers and their Hertfordshire sources and the dates records for Quakers start from in Hertfordshire. Alternatively The National Archives (TNA at Kew, Richmond, Surrey UK) web site have a guide which you can read on-line and they stock a book in their book shop called ' My ancestors were Quakers'. Will someone please look for Rebecca BISHOP in the 1851 census. I found her in 1861 living in the Parish of Caddington Herts, entry as follows: Markyate St. Rebecca BISHOP Sister Unmarried Age 56 Visitor Bn Bucks Cuddington She was living with: Daniel COOK Head Mar Age 51 Retired Farmer Bn Beds Steppingly Mercy COOK Wife Mar Age 49 Wife Bn Bucks Cuddington Mercy COOK is Rebecca BISHOP's sister. Beware the Caddington Herts and Cuddington Bucks. I have not found her in Buckinghamshire in 1851 which is why I think that she may be in Hertfordsire. Happy burrowing everyone, Raymond

Try looking for entries under Bishops Stortford, then Ware.
