    3. To John Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a find! Gosh, William James was a Gamekeeper, how exciting, I shall have to 'Google' now, and find out about the Stevenage Lodge Estate. I would assume that it would have been a big house of some sort. There might be records kept of staff. Gosh! Also, you have clarified what 'Pier Green' was for me, 'Pea Green', thanks for that, and I shall have to look up a marriage for Jane Glazebrook too. Once again, thank you so much for sending me this information, absolutely brilliant Regards Lisa -------Original Message------- From: Berkojohn258@aol.com Date: 05/25/05 09:39:08 To: ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HRT] 1851 census look up please GLAZEBROOK and BRIARS Hi Lisa, Details found and forwarded to you direct. 3. Dear Lisa, I lived for 30 years in Stevenage, there was no Pier Green or Pea Green, but a Pin Green. It is now part of the New Town's estates, started I believe in the early 1960's. If you look at www.old-maps.co.uk perhaps you may find Stevenage Lodge Estate (which I had never heard of despite doing a history of Stevenage at school). Funnily enough, I went to Broom Barns Junior school and had a Mr. Glazebrook as my headmaster in the early 1960's! Valerie Edwards, Vancouver Island, BC. Canada. 3. Hi Listers Please, if anyone has access to the 1851 census for Herts, could you look up a couple of families in Stevenage for me. Joseph GLAZEBROOK b. abt 1796 Stevenage wife Elizabeth b. abt 1800 Stevenage They were living in Pier? Green Stevenage on the 1841 census, although by the 1861 they had moved to Brewhouse Lane, St Andrews, Hertford. Also William James BRIARS (could be down as James) b. abt 1818 Stevenage. wife Kezia (could be written as Kizzy) children John Pateman BRIARS, Maria BRIARS, Sarah BRIARS, and possibly William James BRIARS, although he might not have been born yet. 3. Hi All: Since there _is_ someone on this list with access to the 1851 census for St. Albans, I'll reiterate my question about my most difficult brick wall: George GILES (father) could be b. about 1800 Sarah Jemima GILES, b. abt. 1830 St. Albans, daughter. Mother of the above may also have been Sarah or possibly Jemima as that name is passed down to Sarah's daughter Evelina. If they are not in St. Albans in 1851 would there be any possibility of finding them in 1841? Maybe they are to be found in a Hertfordshire directory in 1851 or close to 1841, that might give their address? In 1858, George was an office clerk, and Sarah was married to William Robert WILLCOCKS, widower, at St. Mary's, Portsea, Hampshire, so is known not to be still in Herts. I have recently found her details in the 1861 census in Shoreditch, Middlesex. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA. Brian wrote: Good morning Geoff Have looked into the 1851 Cenus, but unfortunately no surname of Leete shown. Perhaps the 1861 Census might be more fruitful.

As you have access to the 1881 Census online I've looked for them in 1891 Henry I'm not sure about. 2. Geoff Morse
    3. Does anyone have a copy of the 1851 Census for St Albans and can look for a Simeon Leete for me. He married Eliza Masters in his home village of Guilden Morden, Cambs in Aug 1852, when he described himself as an Innkeeper residing in St Albans. I've found a Simeon Leete in Guilden Morden in the 1851 Census, but it isn't him, so I'm hoping that my Simeon Leete was already living in St Albans which is where their first child was born in 1854 and baptised at St Albans Abbey.
