    1. Hi Listers, Is there an 1841 census for Puttenham in Hertfordshire? I have been told it is missing. Anyone know for certain? I'm looking for a John and Caroline Seabrooks that lived there. Thanks for your comments. Karen

    1. Re: [HRT]
    2. Karen: That question can be answered by going to _http://www.familysearch.org/_ (http://www.familysearch.org/) Click on their tab at the top that says Library and then on the next page click Family History Library Catalog. Then on this page look of the right and enter Puttenham and as part of Hertford (in their database they leave off the shire) and click search. Then click on the blue highlighted Puttenham and this will show you all the records available and when you click the census entry you will see that is does in fact say that 1841 is missing. But you will also see all the other records that are available that might make up for the loss. By clicking into the records you are interested in and click all blue highlighted names until you get to the final record page and then at the bottom of the page there will be a place to click for a printable version and it will be on that page that you will find the number of the microfilm to order to view those records. If you don't live near a family history center to order and view the films ask your local library if they have an arrangement to order and view films there and if not ask them if they will.. If you cannot find this let me know and I will help you to see the relevant pages. Good Luck, Cherie Lynn

    1. PARADINE, Charles George-1901 census look-up please
    2. hey wyre
    3. Sorry for the triple posting but I am unsure as to where Charles was in 1901. Although he was born in Tring on June 22, 1899 (making him only 1 year old at the time of the 1901 census) his family ended up around London. He had an older brother, Joe (I am presuming Joseph) and perhaps a older sister Eleanor Alice. He also had a sister Kate and a brother Jim (James) but I believe they were younger than he was. Most of the family, in later years, lived around Herne Hill, Beckenham and Bromley areas Any information and/or connections would be most welcome Judy BC Canada

    3. Hi Joanne, Thanks for your e-mail. My 5x gt grandmother was Sarah BARKER, b in Witham in 1762. Her parents were Thomas and Elizabeth. Sarah married Robert WITTEY in 1782. I have no idea about other descendants of Thomas and Elizabeth. Not knowing the county well, whether Weston is near Witham or not, I suspect these families were not related, although you never know... 2. Pat Wade
    3. Hello, I would dearly love to find descendants of Frederick Charles James WADE and Kate GOODMAN. This was Fred's second marriage and they were married in 1923 in HERTFORD. They had two children that I know about - Margaret Alice and Christinna - this information from probate details. I have not found their births on the GRO yet. (Haven't had a lot of access time but it is also possible that Fred adopted them and they were Kate's children) Fred was born in Tring, Hertford in 1875 Fred was a Fishmonger and he lived most of his married life (1st and 2nd marriage) in Windsor, Berkshire. Fred & Kate are buried in the Windsor Cemetery, and with help from some wonderful listers I have photos of their headstones. PHOTOS of Fred, Mary and Kate (his two wives) and his parents are extremely desired and as his two sons from the first marriage have nothing I was hoping to find the girls or their descendants in the hopes that they do have something. (apart from the obvious information they would have of their life) Thank you Pat

    1. Thomas JEFFS
    2. I am looking for correct parentage of the Thomas JEFFS who supposedly died between 1820-1851 in Hertfordshire. His wife Hannah lived at least until the 1861 census in Hemel Hempstead. Based on that census which gives her birthplace as Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire it does seem likley that she is the Hannah BATES who married a Thomas JEFFS on 26 Jan 1809 in Ivinghoe. Most IGI sources give the place of birth for Thomas JEFFS as Eaton, Bray, Bedfordshire. That seems unlikely ... but possible. There were JEFFS families already living in the Hemel Hempstead area before the time of Hannah BATES marriage in 1809. Anyone have more detail on the Thomas JEFFS who was in Hemel Hempstead by 1820? Regards, Al Rose Please visit my GEDCOM posted at URL: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=butchrose

    1. DAVIS family, Hemel Hempstead, 1827 +
    2. Jan White
    3. Hi, I am new to this list, and wondered if anyone can help me with anything about the family of Thomas DAVIS [from Glamorgan] and his wife, Emily or Amelia (unknown surname). I know they were in Hemel Hempstead from at least 1827, possibly earlier. I would particularly like to know who sisters Margaret and Millicent married... Margaret DAVIS b about 1829, last known at 132 Farthing Yard, Hemel Hempstead, in 1851 Millicent DAVIS b about 1835, strangely enough, last known at 131 Farthing Yard, Hemel Hempstead, in 1851, unless one address number is just an error. I have one other sister (Emma) who's 1851 address was 131 but the rest of the family were at 132. George (b abt 1835) married Elizabeth (unknown surname) from Bedfordshire. I have no further details for them either. I am wondering if Joseph DAVIS could be the Joseph Morris DAVIS living at Durrants Hill in the 1881 census. I have no other info to guide me here. The only thing I know is that his father, Thomas, was a papermaker, and Joseph Morris DAVIS is a paper finisher. If anyone has any info on this family, or is able to help me fill in the gaps, I would be very grateful. Thanks for your help, Jan White (Somerset) Researching... 2. Dear Tamara: GENUKI has a Gazetter and many, many other resources. Asking for Walworth -- one in Surrey came up and 5 in Durham. This is not the last word of course and you also may have checked GENUKI already. When I see things like that I think that I might be looking at a house name. _http://www.genuki.org.uk/_ (http://www.genuki.org.uk/) Running it through the Family History Library and its catalog, Place Search -- two Surrey, One blanket listing for Durham and a few in the USA. _http://www.familysearch.org/_ (http://www.familysearch.org/) But from the answer of Geoff and then running Walsworth through GENUKI and it is right there. Good Luck, Cherie Lynn Good Luck and I hope someone who knows will answer you soon. Cherie Lynn
