I am interested in researching the Bracey family of Gustard Wood, Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire. My grandfather was Ernest Bracey, born 1875. He married Maud Carter in 1897. I am particularly interested in his mother Maria Bracey, born 1846. Many thanks, Beryl Woodhead
Thank you Paula, I just found you email re Cutmore's. It is a big help. I feel it is wonderful how the people on this lovely list help each other. Hello Geoffrey, I am still your cousin Geoffrey through Margaret PALLETT marriage to George CUTMORE. Yes I did think that George was the son of Thomas Cutmore and Hannah Brown. However after being contacted by a 'new' cousin on the CUTMORE side through Thomas, that Thomas was not my George's father but more likely to be the son of John. I have his marriage certificate to Margaret and it states John as his father not Thomas. The new cousin on the Cutmore side thought that my George had to be the son of Thomas and Lydia. I do not think this changes much from our point of view, well at this stage of investigating I do not think so :) The fact that he really did not know his age, seemed to be doubtful at times where in Hertfordshire he was born, makes it a bit difficult. I just noticed that my original email I had put down George as having the surname of PALLETT, sorry for that George was a CUTMORE. Regards, Jill Jackson Sydney Australia I am having trouble identify my Great grandfather George CUTMORE. He was born either 1815, 1821 or 1832 in Thundridge, Hertfordshire. I know he married Margaret PALLETT in 1855, on the marriage certificate it lists George's father as John PALLETT. No mother I have him as being born at Hunsdon in 1821, son of Thomas CUTMORE and Hannah BROWN. Moreover, I have you as my cousin - through the PALLETTs!!! Yours, etc. Geoffrey Woollard in Cambridgeshire.

I know he married Margaret PALLETT in 1855, on the marriage certificate it lists George's father as John PALLETT. No mother mentioned. On the Census:- 1861 age 41 1871 age 50 1881 age 59 1891 age 72 He did not seem to know his correct age, understandable in those days if you could not read or write. Regardless of the above, I do have a problem in identifying his parents, particularly his mother who was either Ann or Lidia. Any suggestions from any one to help me solve this problem.
