Hi everybody, Trying to find anybody with information on the Dorringtons at Great Hallingbury. Got all census for one family back to 1861, but don't know where to turn next. My oldest lead is James Dorrington born 1819 Great Hallingbury who had sadly died by 1871. If anyone can help be truly grateful. Thanks. Celia.
Hi Listers Could someone please look up a baptism and a marriage for me. John CALVERT or CULVER (or a variant of) born around 1796 in either Great or Little Munden. I think I have found his marriage in 1815 in Little Munden under the name CALVERT to a Sarah Peter PHILLIPS, and would love to know if parents names were mentioned then, or any other information. Thank you so much Lisa

Hello listers, I can't find a list for Middlesex. I know I'm on the wrong one here, but hope someone can help me with some information. I want to know where I can find the parish registers for St. Mary's Church in Finchley, Middlesex. Is there a Finchley register office? I have checked all that the LDS have filmed, but they are incomplete. Do you think that means that the registers I need no longer exist? or are there gaps in the LDS filming? Thanks, Desley
I am researching James and Hannah Kempster and have hit a brick wall. At the time of the 1851 census, he was a widower living in Flaunden aged 58 born Flamstead. He died on 27 July 1859 aged 67. His wife Hannah was born in Herts according to the 1841 census and died in Flaunden on 1 July 1844 aged 46 years. I visited HALS last week from Birmingham and checked out the marriage of James Kempster and Hannah Darey in Sarratt on 22 July 1815. Unfortunately no helpful additional information. Looking at Allen's Marriage Index, it would pear to be the only Herts marriage of a James Kempster and a Hannah. We searched the Flamstead PRs for the baptism of James Kempster without success. So advice and suggestions as to where we should search next would be greatly appreciated as I am not familiar with the county. I did wonder about the following IGI entry: James son of James and Mary Kempster born 5 Jan 1792 bapt 2 Feb 1792 at Wormley. We ran out of time so was unable to check this out . Would this be a reasonable line of enquiry? Wendy Pepper Barnt Green, Birmingham

Dear list, I'm a new subscriber and I've just found that one of my ancestors was Mary LAWRENCE nee CHAPPEL - who in the 1851 census was married to John LAWRENCE and living in Edmonton. The reason I've subscribed to this list is that on that census she gives her birth place as Herts Pelham. Her age in 1851 is recorded as 57 putting her birth around 1794 and she apparently married two LAWRENCE's because on the birth cert. of one of the children of John and Mary LAWRENCE it gives mothers name as Mary LAWRENCE late LAWRENCE formerly CHAPPEL. Has anyone on this list come across Mary CHAPPEL in their research?? I have found on the IGI a Mary CHAPPEL marrying a William LAWRENCE in 1818 in Enfield which is where the LAWRENCE family seems to be from - however I haven't been able to find a birth record for a Mary CHAPPEL from Hert Pelham. Hoping someone can help Regards, Gay in NZ

Hi Sue, Have you got the 1901 census information for your Empsons?? Mary is in Bramfield and is described as Head of household but married - could Henry still be in Trinidad? The PRO Ref is RG13/1304, folio 7, page 5 and you can do a free look-up for yourself at the moment on Ancestry and get all the information. I can't find them on the 1891 census but that would figure as looking at the birth dates of their children they would be in Trinidad. Have you tried searching on 1837 online for their marriage? I know it is a pay to view site, but both names are reasonably uncommon and you would not have a large number of years to search. Sorry not to have been of more help. This is my first posting to this list. In the 1861 census George CARTER and his wife Mary Ann (nee STUDD ) both say that they were born in Rickmansworth, Herts. George was born about 1815 and Mary about 1820. I would be pleased to hear from anybody who is researching these names. Regards, Fred Waite, Lichfield, Staffs.
