    3. Janet, Thank you for your kind offer re-look ups in Ashwell but I already have access to the registers and booklets you mention. I also have The Accounts of the Overseers of the Poor from 1722 - 1769. Do you have the Militia Lists or have access to info regarding the Independent Meeting House? Louise

    3. Hi Kevin, Yes of course, they would have been in Bygrave in 1841 - I must have had a brain fade. I will check British Origins again. William is on the '51 census, he's married with kids and his birthplace is recorded as Bygrave about 1824/5. He married Eliza Wilson, daughter of James and Ann Wilson of Edworth, Bedford.... not that far from Ashwell. I'm wondering if she was a cousin or something. Thanks again for your help, Maureen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Bean" <Kevin@KevinBean.co.uk> To: <ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 08, 2005 6:08 PM Subject: RE: [HRT] 1841 Census of Ashwell, Herts > Maureen, > I do not believe there were in Ashwell in 1841. 3. Yes I have discovered these 2 Census from 1851, 1861. I don't know what's happened to them in 1871. I know there were marriages with Susan M. and Henry M. in 1844. The child Susan 2 was born in 1846. Don't know if there were any other children. I have sent for the death of Susan M. born 1809 (or 1808). However, to make the puzzle more puzzling..... On my other side of the family. Henry Catt 's father William Catt married a Fanny Meekcoms. What the relationship of the two M. women is ...don't know. I remember reading in one of my searches that Fanny M. died a pauper in Otford, Kent. I think they must've been cousins, Henry and Fanny. She was born about 1815, he 1817. I have never been so puzzled by Family History in my life. My single name was Catt you see, so I've always wondered how come I found this line so difficult. Apparently William Catt,(who married Fanny Meekcoms) came from Heathfield Sussex but I'm not even sure of that. 3. Hi List, Excuse my ignorance but I wasn't aware the 1841 Census for Hertfordshire was available. I subscribe to British Origins for the 1841 but Herts is not on it. I too am trying to trace an ancestor from Ashwell, Herts - Robert Huckle born around 1800. If anyone could assist I would be really grateful. 3. Maureen, I do not believe there were in Ashwell in 1841. Their 5 sons were born in Bygrave between 1828 and 1839 and they were in Bygrave at the time of the 1851 Census, so I guess they may also have been in Bygrave in 1841. Unfortunately I do not have access to the 1841 census of Bygrave. The Ashwell parish registers have: Bapt., 11 Jan 1795, Robert Huckle s. Hannah WILSON Mar., 27 Feb 1794, Robert HUCKLE (bachelor) and Hannah WILSON (spinster) both of Ashwell Bapt., 11 Sep 1796, Henry s. Robert HUCKLE and Hannah (plus other children up to 1806) regards, Kevin. > -----Original Message----- > From: Robert Player [mailto:player6@bigpond.com] > Sent: 8 November 2005 04:12 > To: ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [HRT] 1841 Census of Ashwell, Herts > > Hi Again Kevin, > > Now that I've overcome my initial excitement, I reread your > email and am wondering if it's possible for you to send me > the info on Robert Huckle Wilson and his wife Ann from the > 1841 Census of Ashwell. > > Kind regards, > Maureen

    3. Maureen, the closest I can find is Robert Huckle WILSON (born before parents were married). His parents were Robert HUCKLE and Hannah WILSON. Robert Huckle WILSON was baptised 11 Jan 1795 in Ashwell, and died abt Apr/Jun 1869. He married Ann ? and had at least 5 children in Bygrave between 1828 and 1839. Details can be found at: www.gencircles.com/users/kevinbean/11 (children not mentioned as they were not born in Ashwell) The family were in Bygrave in 1851 and Baldock in 1861. I have photos of the 1841 census for Ashwell and surrounding villages. regards, Kevin. > -----Original Message----- > From: Robert Player [mailto:player6@bigpond.com] > Sent: 7 November 2005 22:38 > To: ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [HRT] 1841 Census of Ashwell, Herts > > Hi List, > > Excuse my ignorance but I wasn't aware the 1841 Census for > Hertfordshire was available. 1. Meekcoms from Hertfordshire.
    2. Lianne Hunter
    3. I have received no replies on my query for this family, which I think surprises me. Is it a common name? Have I spelt it wrong? A refresher - Susan Chart married Henry Meekcoms in 1844. Susan was born a Taylor, then became a Carter, then a Chart. In other words she was married X 3. Henry and Susan's first child was Susan II, born in 1846 in London. Susan Meekcoms/ was born in 1808 in Berkhampstead and I believe her father was George Taylor. Is anyone familiar with the names CHART/TAYLOR/CARTER OR MEEKCOMS/ Thank you any help. Lianne Hunter

    1. FRANCIS, 1841, Ware; and KIMPTON family, Great Amwell
    2. Susan Hembury-Kellow
    3. If it's not too much trouble, I would be extremely grateful if some kind soul could do an 1841 look up for William FRANCIS, who in 1851 was living at Ware as follows: 1851 census Amwell Road, Ware, Hertfordshire William FRANCIS, Head, Wid, 71, Victualler, London Ann WHITBREAD, Visitor, 10, Ware, Herts Susan HUMPHRIES, Servant, 13, Servant, Ware, Herts I'd very much like to know who was in the household with him in 1841 - his wife, Sarah nee KIMPTON, died in 1818, but I'd like to know what children or visitors, if any, were there. Incidentally, if anyone has connections to the KIMPTON family of Great Amwell, I'd love to share info. I've traced back to Thomas KIMPTON (circa 1762 - 1821) and his wife Sarah nee JOHNSON (circa 1766 - 1829) - looking for their parents if anyone can help? Thomas KIMPTON farmed at Amwell End, Great Amwell - he and Sarah had at least nine children, and I'm trying to research their descendents. Sons Thomas, James and William, and daughters Elizabeth [PEATFIELD] and Mary Anne were still alive in 1821. Best wishes, Sue
