Although his uncle Henry Hodges and his son albert were still around kings langley. any help welcome

Not much help, I'm afraid Sandra. I, too, can not find Mary in the 1871 census, although I have tried a number of variations. What I can tell you, however, is that Mary is not with son Thomas in Royston in 1871. He is on RG10/1360, folio 101, page 23, Schedule 112, Warren with wife Eliza and six children. Sorry not to have been of more help. Janet. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sandra Pidduck" <sigplat@sympatico.ca> To: <ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 19, 2005 3:21 AM Subject: [HRT] Mary POTTER - 1871 > Hello all > I am looking for a Mary POTTER who may have been in Royston as of the 1871 > census. > > (Mary POTTER, bcirca 1809 Cullompton or Kentisbeare, Devon) > > In 1861, she was with her husband (Samuel) in Kentisbeare Devon, but by > 1881 she was living with her eldest son, Thomas and his wife Eliza in > Royston and is listed as a former general servant. Hello Sandra I didn't want you to think that no-one was looking for Mary, so I thought that although I've drawn a blank I would let you know. I've tried to find her under just her first name, then just the surname but although there were others, none were born at the right time. Hello all I am looking for a Mary POTTER who may have been in Royston as of the 1871 census. (Mary POTTER, bcirca 1809 Cullompton or Kentisbeare, Devon) In 1861, she was with her husband (Samuel) in Kentisbeare Devon, but by 1881 she was living with her eldest son, Thomas and his wife Eliza in Royston and is listed as a former general servant. I believe that her husband died in 1866. I am not sure when she came to Royston. If SKS can find her for me, I would be most grateful Thanks Sandra (in snowy Ontario)

Hello everyone, I'm trying to find friends or relatives of Frederick Charles HAZLE (1913-2001) and his wife Violet Elsie CURRIE (1918-1996). Violet Elsie was born in London and maybe Frederick was too, but I haven't had a chance to get to the birth index to find out for sure yet. They married in Lambeth in 1946 and both died in Hertfordshire. The reason for the query is that in researching family history for my cousin's husband we have come across a distant connection to this family, and would love to know if Frederick and Violet have descendants or friends who may be able to tell us something about them. Many thanks, Loretta in Melbourne, Australia

Paul, I have before me the birth certificate of my great grandmother Maria FORD b. Sarratt 15th January 1846, fourth child (of at least eleven) of James FORD and Eliza HEWER (sometimes EWER) who married in 1834 in Rickmansworth and later moved to Chorleywood. Hi The London Orphanage is still there, but has been converted into "up market" apartments. The original buildings are still there, including the church. Quite a few new buildings have been added, but unlike most developments these days, the new buildings are very much in keeping with the originals. I never thought I'd hear myself say such a thing, but: my compliments to the developers. The church has, I believe, been desanctified and converted into more appartments. I know little of the history of the place, in fact you probably know more about it than I do Don, but Orphanage Road is still there, being now a major access road to the Radlett Road area, and the other new housing estates there.
